Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has shocked the club by naming the Liverpool defender as one of their top summer transfer targets.

The former Man City captain was incredibly appointed as Bayern’s new manager late last month. With Kompany moving to the Bundesliga giants despite Burnley being relegated from the Premier League.

However, Liverpool, who offer Gomez a five-year contract in 2022, are prepared to snub the Bundesliga side, who have reportedly impressed by the 27-year-old’s versatility.

Kompany should be able to feel the full backing of FC Bayern in his day-to-day work. For Eberl, it’s crucial “that we as a club stand behind our coach and give him the support he needs. We as Bayern Munich can only be successful, like every club in the world. If we stand together. We have to achieve that.”
